IT: Spam seminar on thursday

On Thursday, I went to the National library for a seminar organized by Mediabuzz titled 'Spam: The never ending story'.

There we have some vendors and law consultants discussing on Spam and its latest form, its impact and ongoing technology to combat the threat. Its not too informative as most of the info given out is already in place at my company or i know it. What amazed me was the lack of education among the users on how to prevent spam in the first place.

It never fails to amaze me when users, vendors and regulators play the blame game where in the first place, all it takes is work together as an integrated body to combat this menace. The industry also should stop using very complex words like 'whaling' or 'botnets' in their marketing campaign. Sounds like 'mis-selling' to me.

On the same day, I also went to Kuala Lumpar for a short business trip by coach. Plus on that day, the stock market and FX market went for a down-spin, with USD going high and the world stock market losing % points like nobody business.
