Daily Life: KL Marathon 2012

Today is the KL Marathon 2012 and I was up before 3.20am to prepare for the run. I taking part in the 42.195 section and very different from the 21K I took part last year. The weather starting was raining with rains come in for a while 1 hour after the event started. However as runners, we continue to run regardless of the weather. Another runner from Standard chartered KL also took part and follow me to the 22k mark as he feels I am on the same running pace he is comfortable with.

The worst part of the race is just around the 28k to 31k as its on the expressway and there is a lot of stones on the road which is a nightmare for barefoot running. I had a hard time running with the foot hitting the stones and it gets very painful till i have to stop and re-adjust my form to continue. Also as I was running barefoot this year round, I was able to have more energy for a major run towards the finish line ahead of other runners. I was also hopeful that I am able to get my personal best as when i cross the finish line, it shows 5.45 which is 15 mins faster than what i had in KL Singapore 2011. With more training, i should be able to aim for 5.30 and finally 5 within 2 years. This is to see if i can run fast enough to qualify for the Boston Marathon which needs a max timing of 3hrs 30mins.

After the run, i went back to hotel for a shower and drying of my running gear and shoes. I also took a nap and went for a later than usual lunch at Coliseum Cafe. Since I did not bring too much money, I had the ox-tail soup, a glass of coke and chicken 4-in-1 as main course. The ox-tail is very rich in favour and got real beef pieces inside. Its worth every monthful at RM12.90.

After lunch, I went to Times square where I saw my colleague who is also taking part in the KL marathon 2012.She did not see me though as she is looking after her 2 kids. Since got time, I decided to go for a movie and watched Abraham Lincoln: vampire hunter. its not a bad show despite its lack of real facts. Dinner was subway meatball.
