In more ways than one, 2013 ends on a high note with the catwoman's challenge at the Singapore flyer. It is back in end of 2012 on the same event that catapulted me into more running n taking on my first Ultra in Sept. Thinking back, it took some courage to attempt such a long distance at 101K. So on the first day of 2014, it's good to take stock of the old year n see what to expect for the new year
Work
Nothing much has changed since we moved from AMK to Woodlands. 2013 marks the completion of our migration from physical to virtual servers n introducing of windows 8 into Univac IT infrastructure.2014 will be a challenging year as budget is limited n there is the XP to Windows 7/8/8.1 migration plan to worry about.
Finance
Other than the lost of saving of 8k n still waiting for the money to come back, 2013 has been a mixed year for my investment n trading. I did make money out of my FX n index trading but i too lost big on the trades. Guess its a double edged sword n markets are getting difficult to gauge. 2014 was supposed to my year, many forecast great fortune/wealth ahead. I for one have little faith in such matters n choose to see it to believe.
Since from Sept 2013 onwards singles above aged 35 can apply for new BTO flats in non-mature areas, I am hopeful of getting the keys to my own flat before i hit 40. A small 2-room flat is good enough as I need to worry about cleaning it up. Getting too big n have to ask my spouse to clean the flat also does not look good.
Love Life
Still blank as a white piece of paper. Rather than worry about what type/kind of woman my spouse will be, i decided in 2014 to improve myself. Either by going for courses or going for my tooth whitening/ minor makeover. This way I can have a great smile on camera n who knows, the one is just round the corner waiting for me.....
Some people has tried to matchmake me with girls. but the issue is I am looking for a spouse, not just some GF. A character is she must be a christian. its very difficult for me to be one n she to be some other religion. The reason is simple: The kids need to be brought up in a christian family. Whether end of the day they become christian is another matter all together but at least I set the arena right.
Health/ Sports
I relate both together n finally have made some progress in this area. Weight went from 75.5kg to 73.4kg after the Craze Ultra n maintain there. With lighter weight comes faster timing for my races. 2013 see me breaking my PB for 21K,42K with races after races. The best PB for cold weather is 4.45 achieved in Chiang mai Marathon 2013. Best PB for local weather is 5.25. 2014 will see me going for a planned target of 2,014KM run for 2014 since 2013 see me clocking in 1,823KM in total. To achieve my 2014 target, on average i will need to run 168KM per month. Its achievable.
I was hoping to lose another 3kg to hit 70kg. That way I will look even more slimmer n fitter. Never hurts to have a healther lifestyle
Spirtual
Church going still seems to be a long forgotten ritual which i am hoping will not be a ritual but something else. To date this has yet to change n guess some lessons are just to great to cast aside. Daily bread reading however has been very regular n with the daily entry send to my phone via email, its very easy for me to get connected. Though i doubt this is what God has in mind, I believe in due course, I will find the courage to go church n letting go of the past.
