Network engineers like myself are always given the task of ensuring network is working fine. The fun part is the management always forget to give us money or when it comes to budget, we will be given the lessen... 'Do more with less': that is Microsoft motto; ours should be 'Do more with nothing'.
Thankfully, there are always good guys out there who also suffer the same problem before and comes out with freeware for hard-pressed network engineers like us to manage our network and measure its performance. One such company is Paessler's PRTG network monitor. It's latest edition, version 7, allows the monitoring of the network with up to ten sensors. Each sensor is for a single action.
I have tested the software for the past one month and has all praise for the product. I was using version 6 which can only allow 3 sensors but it suits me well. I was able to detect anomaly in my network and resolve it before it affects everyone. I will provide some screenshots and further updates tomorrow.
