Daily Life: I did what I come to KL to achieve- Run

Today is the KL marathon 2011 and it is different feeling. Its the first time I even run in a foreign land before and I was totally under-estimate the no. of runners staying in the same hotel as I am. By the time I went to the lobby around 4.20am, there are already 2 different groups of people waiting downstairs and many more moving toward Dataran Merdeka, the starting point. I was too early as my event is at 6.15am (Half Marathon).

The run was as usual with me running my heart out from the flag off. There are many runners in the Half Marathon category but I am interested in only my personal best. I can see why some runners do not want to take part in the KL Marathon. Unlike the SG one, if the roads are closed, the police will not allow anyone to move up the roads. Here in KL, the police at some junctions, are unable to stop the traffic effectively. As runners, we just have to be more careful and look out for ourselves and the rest. The final 2km is from maju Junction shopping center (I finally know where is it) , pass Sogo (I was there on yesterday) and run past the hotel i staying and ends at Dataran Merdeka. At the last 100M, my leg is giving me cramps and i just have to push on since it is within reach.

After the run, I went back to hotel and attempt to go back to sleep after a nice shower. By 12pm I am awake and ready to eat my lunch. Since the run is over and to reward myself, I decided to go eat the the Coliseum Cafe. Its where the 10K run marker was at and just 5 mins walk from my hotel. The Cafe is old school and i see some marathon runners having their lunch there. I don't see any tourist there though so guess only locals know the area or those of us who plan before hand. I ordered a cup of ice lemon tea and a 4 chicken in 1 meal. 4 chicken as in chicken sausage, turkey ham, chicken meat and one other item which i forgot what is it. They are put together, breaden and served with fries and vegetables. Its really worth the money and i don't see anything like that in SG. The eating environment is also old school, like what we will see in Tanjong Katong that area.

After lunch, I went back Maju Junction and visited the Giant shop there. I bought some chocolates and a bottle of Vodka mix. There was also a VCD shop and i attempt to find my malay show but failed. Looks like i have to make a trip to Jakarta for that. My trip to Times square was too late to catch a movie so I went shopping for some clothes and bought some. I also went to scout where i will catch my ride back to SG tomorrow afternoon and its walking distance from Times square.

All in all this is a good and fulfilling trip. I will be back next year round if possible. (The picture beside is taken during the run on the expressway and there was a possible shower in the morning but the weather cleared before that n we saw this rainbow in the horizon. Just like running, when we hit shit, we know that the rainbow is just around the corner as long as we endure.)
