Daily Life: Run Against Cancer 2012

This morning i took part in the Run against cancer 2012. Its at East Coast park and this is the first time i get to run at the event. Last year I took part but did not reach the start point in time so this year i decided to take the first bus to reach there.

I was too early. By 6.10am I was at the East Coast Park C4. It will be another 30mins before I reach the start point at E4. The event is sponsored by Singtel so it is natural to have a large no. of runners from Singtel taking part. I am taking in the 15K Competitive run and this is the first time after the KL marathon where I run in another race.

I must admit I was right to take the 15K as the runners are really good. Everyone is running and i do not see anyone walking at the start of the race. I am not familiar with the racing route so I was taking my time running, always keeping in mind the running form. After the 14K mark, I saw a ang moh starting to walk so I said '1 more K to go'. I did not expect him to start running and at my pace. We continue to run at a continuously pace until the end of the race where I run a little faster. He did thank me for encouraging him to finish the race running instead of walking.

After gropping down the free banana and water, I off my iphone app runkeeper. I was using it to keep track of my pace and it gave me a shock. I have run 37km with a average time of 2.30min/km finishing at 1.41. I know there is impossible since the race is only 15K. I did admit the timing is correct so I calculated that my pace is 6.77min/km (1.41/15K ). That is indeed my personal best of far and is 2mins faster than my normal pace. I have completed 15K using my normal 12K training pace.

Looks like the chi running has helped and give me additional confidence to train even harder for the upcoming 21K in Sept.
