Daily Life: First race for 2019 NUS Charity Run 2019

I seldom do 10K races in Singapore since it quite ex but i took this chance to do the NUS charity run 2019 as a gauge for my upcoming SCMHK 2019 which will be in mid Feb (Feb 17 2019).

The NUS charity run starts from the NUS business school which is 4 bus top ride from Hwa Par Villa circle line MRT. I took the bus no 10 from bus stop at City Hall one Raffles link. The bus was fast n i arrive at the start line around 3.30pm. Did my warm-up of jumping jack n spray the red balm sports spray to warm up the legs before putting my bag at the bag deposit room at level 2. It is group by the bib no.

Managed to see quite of few of fellow runners like Lawerance/ Margaret, Lynn, Melvin, Ben Swee, David Lim n others before the start of the race. The race kick off on time at 4.30pm. Once out we turned left n straight up a slope n another slopes before going down. The whole route takes us round 1 lap NUS campus which is huge. Its the first time I run this route though part of the route i run before. Ben Swee overtook me within the first 1k n up onwards he went.

There are 5 drink stations which is well stocked with water n isotonic drink. the weather is very hot so also carry a 300ml bottle with me to drink as needed. It prove to be a life saver as the drink station are spread out evenly but with the heat, the body heats up quickly especially travelling at high speed. The slopes down helped though during the last 2 up slope i was forced to walk a little to save some energy. The last stretch was a up slope follow by down slope. By the time i cross the finish line n stop the GPS watch, I have travelled 9.56K within 55mins.

I am very happy with the results n goes to show the strengthening exercise i currently doing is doing well. Thank God not many fell to the heat though some runners did faint or felt weak. The warm up run i did in the morning also helps to keep the legs warm though not at a fast pace.
