Daily Life: Day 1 & 2 in KL for KL Marathon 2011

This sunday is the KL marathon 2011 and I have arrived in KL since Thursday afternoon. I took the coach from Golden mile and using the second link, cross into Malaysia around 10.30am. By the time I reach KL, its 3.10pm. I had a cup of starbucks coffee while using their wireless to plot how to reach my hotel, Citin Masjid Jamek.

As the drop off point was at Berjaya Times square, it is very near to the Imbi station under KL Monorail. I was able to plot which train service to take in order to reach Masjid Jamek station which is under another provider. The total train cost is RM1.2+RM1.2=RM2.4 (Single way) which is very cheap considering if i took a cab will be at least RM10 and very much struck in the traffic jam.

I check into the hotel around 4pm and took my time to unpack. Soon its dinner time and I decided to catch a movie, Green Lantern while passing time. The movie was at 7.30 (non-3D) and cost RM12. Dinner was a plate of very costly chicken rice, its RM6.90 but I think its worth only RM3.50. Being at Berjaya Times square, everything is expensive. The movie did not start until 7.50pm. During the waiting time, there are more shows trailers and ad from the government. Its funny as i do not get to see this in SG cinema.

Going back to hotel was a nightmare as it is after office hours and the monorail is packed with people. I have to squeeze in and a foreigner, suspect working there with his girlfriend/wife was not happy when i push in. I kept quiet as no point arguing in a foreign land.

Day 2 is big breakfast at Macdonalds while planning to scout for the Merdeka Square, the starting point of the KL Marathon 2011. Its very very near to where i am staying, just 0.7km away. Already the banners n tents are going up for the event and i see many tourists there, don't know if they are also running.

I had planned to collect the race pack on Friday and to avoid the Sat crowd. So i took the train from Masjid Jamek to bukit Jalil where the stadium is. The race pack was to pick up there. As i am running the Half marathon, i was given the powerbar and yoghurt. I bought some more powerbar gel anyway since I am planning to go for my Singapore Marathon when I am back from KL.

Lunch was sushi from Sogo where I walked after collecting the rack pack. I had to buy back as there is the huge lunch crowd. Its friday so the food courts are packed with people, not unlike Singapore.
