Today is payday so its time to spend money. As I have a badminton game tomorrow, I went to a sports shop in Bugis to change the racket string. My brother had a game last week and broke the string. Its a common issue so thought by changing the string will do.
The shop owner was kind enough to tell me that the racket got a fine crack and will not be able to be used anymore. Thankfully the owner was kind enough to sell me a light weight racket complete with the string and racket towel for S$60 which used to cost S$80. As some may not know, new racket typically comes with the frame only. The customer has to buy the string and ask the shop to put in the string (pay separately or as part of the string cost). Reason is there are many playing form, some players like control, some like high tension for smacking down etc.
The new racket also is lighter than the one and its been with me for a long while (>5 years) so guess its time to change a new one. If i seldom play then it will not be a good investment but since i play twice a month excluding any special occasion where i may play with my family, its a small investment and adds more flavour to my exercise routine which includes walking, running & swimming. :-)
