Today I have chance to buy dinner home as my aunties are working late. I went to the library and there is a good chicken rice stall nearby so i thought just go over to buy will do, a simple dinner for friday.
Normally the item will cost S$3.50 but today it is S$4. I thought I was wrong but the stall helper say price increase already. Since i was in a rush to go home, i did not think too much and pay up and walk towards the interchange to catch the bus home. While at the interchange, i took up my iphone, on the calc app and did a math. A S$0.5 increase is nearly 13% increase! that is inflation. So if some minister say coffee from S$0.90 to S$1 increase is very small, their primary school math fail. A $0.10 increase is equal to 11.1% increase. It is very very fast than the normal average worker wage. For a worker's pay to just cover the increase say the worker salary is S$2000, the increase will have to be S$240. And it is to be done each year as each year, the price only goes up.....
So inflation is at play here, not what the economists, the government is telling us; that inflation is not here yet. Wrong!!! Inflation is here and making our life miserable.
